Gender Equity Statement
Thoroughbred acknowledges that as a team made up of women and men striving to play and perform at high levels, “no athlete is inherently less valued based on their gender and historically, female identifying athletes have not been equally valued” (USAU). Since the above statements are true, Thoroughbred further acknowledges the need for forced and deliberate action to promote the women of our team, community, and sport to help create a space in which the women of this sport are truly represented. To accomplish this, Thoroughbred is taking the following actions:
Lastly, and we believe most importantly, we will listen to our teammates and others when they say we are falling short of these goals, and rather than make excuses, continue to focus and improve our process.
Our commitment to gender equity is a foundation of Thoroughbred 2018. We acknowledge our responsibility in the St. Louis club division to build an empowered community that truly represents our female athletes. We will also continue to update this list as we learn, grow, and receive feedback from our actions.

To accomplish this, Thoroughbred is taking the following actions:
- Create a team culture that promotes gender equity by forming a gender equity committee with the goals of engaging the team with useful educational opportunities, creating a safe space for feedback and constructive criticism, better defining and ensuring delivery of equity goals, and promoting individual accountability regarding gender equity.
- Promote women at the club level through public use of social media, events, and support in competition, with a focused effort to support women across all of the St. Louis club divisions, including, but not limited to, Stellar, Filthy Gorgeous, and Chalice.
- Participate with the St. Louis Ultimate Association (SLUA) to promote gender equity by participating in and hosting events that promote ultimate in our community. We will offer our time, knowledge, and platform to support the college division, youth division, and other non-club events in the community.
Lastly, and we believe most importantly, we will listen to our teammates and others when they say we are falling short of these goals, and rather than make excuses, continue to focus and improve our process.
